Greenlands’ Got Talent

On Wednesday the 30th March, the children in Y5 and Y6 at Anston Greenlands Primary School hosted a talent show, where children from the youngest in school to the oldest were able to showcase their talents. There was a great range of acts, including gymnastics, kickboxing and stand up comedy! The song ‘Not So Different’, written by the children in Y5 and Y6, was finished and premiered via YouTube on Thursday 24th March at 6pm. This was performed live on the night of the talent show.

All our profits from the evening will be donated to a small charity called War Child. War Child focuses on helping children around the world who are affected by war. 10.7 million children in Ukraine are living through a terrifying crisis. Many have been forced from their homes and have had to leave loved ones behind without food, water and the means to stay warm. War Child are already on the ground in Ukraine working to understand the impact on children and getting them life-saving aid and psychological care.

To put the talent show together, the Year 5 and Year 6 children each had a particular role: there were press officers, charity ambassadors, artists, fundraisers, children who organised refreshments, programmes and ticketing and comperes.

All the profits from tickets, programmes, refreshments, merchandise, glow sticks and a range of games such as chocolate tombola, spin the wheel and name the teddy will be donated to War Child.

We are proud to announce that in total, we raised £450 for the charity. Even better, until 31st May, all donations will be matched pound for pound by the UK Government, so our contribution will be worth £900!

Thank you.
