The Snowy Owls had a fantastic, packed day at Crucial Crew in Hellaby on Wednesday 9th October. In the morning, Y6 pupils took part in a First Aid workshop, having a go at putting each other in the recovery position. They also learnt about knife crime and hate crime and had a go at spotting the signs of Child Criminal Exploitation. Additionally, the children took part in a courtroom scenario (with a rather scary trip to a prison cell).
Over the afternoon, the Snowy Owls found out about responsible public transport use and how to stay safe when crossing the road, as well as the consequences of arson and what to do in the event of a house fire.
The pupils threw themselves into each activity with enthusiasm. Their contributions to the discussions and scenarios were superb. Adults from school were very proud of the children’s excellent knowledge and their fabulous performance skills. Throughout the day, pupils were very lucky to work with a wide range of knowledgeable professionals from a variety of backgrounds. In particular, the children enjoyed the role-playing scenarios, such as the court room.
