Hysterical Horrible Histories

In literacy lessons over the last week, the Snowy Owls children have all been busy writing a website entry to inform you about a very exciting event:

This term, the Snowy Owls and Golden Eagles have been learning all about the Ancient Romans in order to create sketches and music videos in the style of a Horrible Histories episode.

The topic has been incredible, but what has been the most fun of all was making our stupendous Horrible Histories films with our friends. We have been working hard to make sure our sketches are hilarious and educational. Firstly, we had to carry out research to find out all about the lives of the Ancient Romans. Writing our scripts took the most time because we all wanted them to be perfect – as realistic as the actual shows. Once we had finished writing, it was a case of learning them. Finally, we filmed the sketches so that we can show them to you! Additionally, we have been parodying well known songs by changing the lyrics. It has been a fantastic experience to enjoy and take part in.

Get ready for the evening! On Wednesday 2nd December at 6:30 p.m., we will be hosting a family-friendly Horrible Histories Evening, during which we will show our completed episode. Entry is free, but we will be selling delicious refreshments and putting on a range of entertainment in order to raise money for the Keepod project. Why not take a chance with our Roman Themed raffle? Dare you try the Mouth of Truth lucky dip? In addition, you will be able to order or purchase a DVD of our Horrible Histories episode with an unseen bloopers track. What a great Christmas present for a friend or family member!

As mentioned previously, we are fundraising for the Keepod project; Keepods are the future of computing. They are little life-changing USB devices, which are used in old computers to refresh them. Currently, 70% of people across the world do not have access to a computer. We have already provided Twayuka Basic School, our partners in Kalulushi, Zambia, with some Keepods and we are keen to send more. You only need one old PC and a set of Keepods to open up infinite possibilities. Will you help?

The Horrible Histories Evening will be an event to remember! Please come for a warm welcome, a great time and a chance to see your child as you’ve never seen them before. Whatever you do, don’t miss it!

I’m sure the Snowy Owls have been persuasive enough, but to give you even more of an incentive to come along, here are a few stills from the sketches which have been filmed so far:
