The children in Merlins and Ospreys have worked extremely hard this term learning about music and events in each decade from the 1950’s onwards. All their hard work culminated in a Rock and Pop through the decades concert on the 26th November.
The audience were entertained by children performing songs such as Lollipop by the Chordettes, Love Me Do and Here Comes the Sun by the Beatles, Hound dog by Elvis, Dancing Queen by Abba, Eye of the Tiger by Survivor, Stop and Wanabee by the Spice Girls as well as more current songs by Sam Smith and John Newman.
The children also performed dances to Rock Around the Clock, Do you love Me, Stayin’ Alive, Billy Jean, Thriller and Uptown Funk.
The enterprising children helped plan and run the event, and also baked a range of food to sell at the concert. They also designed and decorated t-shirts to wear at the concert.
The evening was a huge success. Well done to Merlins and Ospreys!
