For our Science topic this term, we are learning about plants and flowers, and about just how amazing they are! We also know how important they are as they produce oxygen, which we need to stay alive.
We each examined a petunia; looking carefully at the roots, the stem, the leaves and the flower itself, with the pollen inside. We’ve now planted the petunias in the Forbidden Garden near our classroom. We have discussed how we need to care for them in order for them to grow: they need the right temperature, moisture (water), nutrients, air and sunlight.
We are also weeding and tidying up our garden, ready to put in some new flowering plants: we know by doing this, it will attract the bees.
