What a busy an exciting term it has been. Children in Merlins have learned not just about music since the 1950’s, but about life and how it has changed since then.
A visit to the Beatles’ Experience in Liverpool helped stimulate a wide variety of activities, including a recount of the visit as well as a narrative about travelling back in time to the sixties. Children have produced their own pop art, album covers, designed and decorated t-shirts and have sung songs from the 1950’s to the present day. You will have experienced their enthusiasm and talent if you came to our Rock and Pop concert in November.
The Rock and Pop concert was an enterprise project that the children helped organise; helping to create the programmes, bake rock cakes to sell and of course, learning to sing and perform the wide variety of songs. As well as baking the rock cakes, the children worked out the cost to make them and how much profit could be made from selling them. This enterprise project not only developed skills in numeracy, it helped raise £150.00 towards future enterprise projects.
Well done to all involved!
