Earlier this term Merlins had two special visitors in to talk to them about looking after their teeth. Nicola and Phoebe, Dental Nurses from Laughton Road Dental Practice, spent time demonstarting to the class on how to brush their teeth correctly.
They talked about how many times a day the children should brush their teeth, how often they should visit the dentist, which foods are healthier to teeth and how to prevent tooth decay. They then went on to answer the many questions the children had for them. Children were quizzed at the end of the talk to find out how much they had learned: they gave some impressive answers and were rewarded with prizes.
Each child was presented with a pack with posters, stickers, toothpaste and a chart for keeping track on how often they brush their teeth.
The class then went on to produce posters to inform others on how to care for their teeth: these are on display in our classroom.
