Once upon a time…

Robins launched their new topic about fairy tales and traditional tales with a fabulous visit to see the pantomime ‘Cinderella’. The children (and adults) had great fun booing the baddies, joining in with the singing and there was even some dancing too!

Back at school it has been non-stop. A magical fairy door has appeared in the classroom, which has resulted in the children making maps of lands behind the door.  They have also received clues to find the magic key which would unlock the door.  The children followed co-ordinates to eventually locate the key in the woods.

We have also had visits from Prince Charming and Cinderella. They had heard how Robins had been learning to waltz, so they both made a guest appearance in our P.E. lesson!

Amongst many other things, Robins have baked their own wands and have continued to develop their musical skills, using the boomwhackers to follow a rhythm, producing their own rhymes for a fairy tale.

This is just after two weeks! We are now looking forward to planning our end of term event for parents, where we will be putting our maths skills to the test with a series of fun challenges which will all be linked to traditional tales.

Finally, in the middle of all of this Robins decided that they still wished to raise money to sponsor a Polar Bear through the charity WWF.  Their passion and knowledge about the effects of Global warming from last term, remains important to them.  Therefore, last week they organised a Toy sale which raised £60.50.  A tremendous effort and a big thank you to parents, Chaffinches and Wrens who all supported the event.
