This week has gone with a whizz, bang, zoom in Chaffinches!! In our history lessons, we have been learning about Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder plot. We have made our own ‘Guys’, built a bonfire in the woods, tucked into hotdogs and made edible sparklers. In English, we have been writing poems about Bonfire Night, using onomatopoeia, alliteration and similes to make our poetry exciting to the reader. In our art lessons we have used watercolours to paint decorative borders for our poems too. In our drama lessons, we have also used the outdoor stage to act out scenes from the Gunpowder plot, there are some fantastic actors amongst Chaffinches! The children also enjoyed performing their poems to the rest of the class too.
We ended the week, learning about the Firework Code and how to take care on Bonfire Night. Enjoy the weekend everyone and stay safe!
