Wrens have had a very busy half term, with the grand finale being their first school Christmas Nativity!
They have been learning about ‘Themselves and Others’. They have learnt about the body, and they even performed a little skeleton dance for their parents/carers. How brave?
The children then went outside and used their knowledge of the body to create pictures. They could only use items found in their outside environment. Didn’t they do well? Some children chose to work alone, others worked in pairs.
The children then shared their personal boxes, talking about how they had changed and also sharing their past experiences.
They looked closely at their friends features and identified what was the same, similar and different. They then tallied this information.
They learnt about how to look after their bodies, using fruit to make repeating patterns. Yum Yum!
They also helped raise money for ‘Children in Need’, by dressing up as their childhood hero.
Christmas then arrived!
The children have had some fabulous first time experiences this year. They started by decorating the class Christmas tree.
They have made Christmas crafts to take home, but also for their enterprise stall. This stall raised a fabulous £208, which was used by both Wrens and Robins to purchase new resources for their next topic.
The children learnt about the Christmas Story, with the help of a visitor from church.
The children had fun learning some new Christmas songs for their Nativity and they then learnt how to dance to two of the songs.
The children chose their own parts in the Nativity. Some children chose to be angels …
Some children chose to be donkeys….
…and others chose to be animals in the stable.
The children were amazing and made us so proud! The audience was huge, but the children were not fazed at all!! They all looked amazing in their costumes too.
Then it was time for their first school Christmas lunch. They obviously dressed for the occasion!
The children by this time were full of Christmas spirit, so they went and shared it with their community. They went with Robins to sing songs from their Christmas Nativity, which was at their local Tesco.
Wrens also supported year 5 and 6 by visiting their ‘French Christmas Market’ and joining in with the school ‘Christmas quiz’.
It was then time to PAAAAARRRRTTTTTYYY!!
The children then got a special visitor….
On their last day, they even supported ‘Text Santa Christmas Jumper Day’, by paying £1 to wear their Christmas jumpers. Don’t they look great!
What a fabulous half term!
I would like to thank everyone for their support this half term. We couldn’t do it without you!
Happy Christmas everyone and have a fabulous New year!
