The Y5s and Y6s had a fantastic time in Sheffield!
Every child visited ‘Escape Sheffield’, experiencing either the ‘Witchcraft and Wizardry’ room or ‘221b Baker Street’. The adults were so impressed with the children’s resilience, teamwork and problem solving skills. Most importantly, the Snowy Owls and Golden Eagles picked up plenty of ideas for puzzles for their own escape room, which will be open to family and friends in mid-November. Watch this space …
We enjoyed having our packed lunches in the Peace Gardens and the Winter Gardens.
After visiting Escape Sheffield, we had the opportunity to explore the Graves Art Gallery. Initially, we investigated a fascinating tapestry by Grayson Perry. This shows everything the artist associates with being British. The children had the opportunity to consider the work, thinking about the elements they would have chosen.
Next, they had the chance to look around the rest of the rooms, pausing in front of some of their favourite pieces of art.
At the end of the day, the Y6s were lucky enough to be given a short guided tour around Sheffield Cathedral. This wonderful building is currently displaying a stunning large-scale art installation, ‘Peace Doves’.
