We LOVE Outdoor Learning at Greenlands – National Outdoor Classroom Day

We spend a lot of time learning outdoors anyway at Greenlands, but today every class spent sometime learning outdoors today!

Here are some of the things some classes did outside.

Puffins

They went on a bear hunt. They had to find different sized bears. This helped them to become more familiar with their outside surroundings too.

Wrens

They did their literacy lesson outdoors. They went on a CVC object hunt, and then wrote these down. They had to use their segmenting fingers to help them to do this.

Chaffinches

They took maths and their literacy lesson outside.

Merlins

We learnt about human evolution and played an evolution rock/paper/scissors game (monkey > homo habilis > homo erectus > neanderthal > human).

Golden Eagles

They used Garage Band to make music for their ‘Escape Room’. They were doing it outside so they could hear what they were doing!

Then they had their reading session outside, They were putting together a performance of Wilfred Owen’s ‘Anthem for a Doomed Youth’ in preparation for Remembrance Day.

Snowy Owls

They had their story in the woodland area and played maths games in the playground.

For maths they had to get into groups for …..

  1. A factor of 24.
  2. A prime number,
  3. A multiple of 3.
