WOW Day for Wrens – ‘Night and Day’

We kicked off our new topic Night and Day the Spotlight Awaits’, with our fabulous WOW day!

We learnt about different animals which like to come out at night, and how we call these ‘nocturnal’.

We learnt a new song about an owl, and then we put some dance moves to it.

We then thought about how some of the nocturnal animals would travel.

Can you see some trying to be a hedgehog?

Can you see someone pretending to be an owl?

We went back to class and played a listening game, where we had to guess which nocturnal animal was making the sound. We were very good at this game!

We then made nocturnal animal masks, and went outside for a photo shoot!

We then got busy making Diwali diya lamps out of clay, which we will be painting once they are dry. We learnt all about Diwali, which is also know as the ‘Festival of Light’, and how this is the most important date in the Hindu calendar, and everyone is invited to join in the celebrations. We learnt that on the 4th of November, and over five days, people celebrate Diwali by exchanging gifts, spending time with loved ones, eating and praying.

We also created firework pictures, using forks. Yes very different, but very effective!

We had a great day kicking off our learning about ‘Night and Day’. We are looking forward to learning more about this over the next half term.
