We had fun celebrating Pancake Day (Shrove Tuesday) and the Chinese New Year (Year of the Monkey).
We had to celebrate a week early due to it falling in the half term holidays. We all had great fun, and learnt a lot too!
Our Pancake Day (Shrove Tuesday) celebrations
Mrs Marriott talked to us about Shrove Tuesday and then she showed us how to make pancakes. Mrs Marriott taught us a pancake making song, as she thought this would help us to remember.
We then had a go at writing our own set of instructions, which Mrs Briggs used to make our pancakes. The pancakes were scrummy!!! Yum Yum!
We finished our day off with a pancake race. It was soooooo much fun! Don’t worry, the frying pans weren’t hot!
Our Chinese New Year celebrations
Mrs Marriott showed us some photos, and then she talked to us about how it is celebrated in China. We then made money packets and lanterns. We also got the opportunity to dance to Chinese music and try some Chinese food. Mrs Marriott then read us the ‘The Great Race: The Origin of the Chinese Zodiac’ story.
